Thirteen years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, but progression has been slow and I have coped. However, that was not all as within 6 months of each other I developed 2 further conditions – a lumbar fracture and a urinal problem which required the removal of my bladder and the fitting of a stoma, that alone necessitated 2.5 months in hospital.

Things could hardly have gotten worse until, that is, I learned that after 60 years of driving that must cease also.

Whilst by then I had long since retired from my profession as a chartered surveyor, I remained a director at Barnet Football Club, and this meant I could no longer travel to away fixtures unless I had alternative means of transport. Sometimes, with the benefit of hindsight, I might have been pleased to miss a match, but this season we are (thus far) second in the League and I really do wish to be there!

Then I saw an article in Parkinson’s Magazine that referred to HertsAbility which was there to test one’s fitness to drive. By then I had not sat behind the wheel for nearly 2 years and, unsurprisingly, I failed. However they did suggest a course of instruction, and at this point, I came across Eshan Mossun.

Immediately I was impressed by his calm disposition. He put me at ease and reinstated my former confidence in myself. Needless to say, earlier this week I re-took the test and passed.

I cannot offer higher praise for Eshan. He has given me back my life!
